Brainwave Measurement
An EEG (electroencephalogram) measures electrical activity in the brain using small sensors that touch the scalp. It records brain wave patterns, helping to indicate the mental state that you are in.
EEGs are non-invasive, painless, and provide real-time information about brain function. We use the Neurosity Crown, a state-of-the-art EEG device, to measure your brain waves. The Crown's features include:
- 8 EEG sensors: CP3, C3, F5, PO3, PO4, F6, C4, CP4
- Reference and bias sensor locations T7 and T8
- Passive + active sensors
- Flexible dry sensors: Silver/Silver Chloride
- Ultra-low noise floor of 0.25 uVrms
- 256 Hz sample rate
Heart Rate Measurement
Your heart rate is a key indicator of stress and relaxation.
A 2009 study found that heart rate change during a stressful task is a useful indicator of physiological stress.
We measure your heart rate using an optical heart rate monitor - the Wahoo TICKR. This device uses light to measure the volume of blood flowing through your blood vessels, and therefore your heart rate.
Using heart rate in combination with brainwave data, we can provide you with a comprehensive picture of your mental state in different cognitive conditions.
